NX Studio 1.11.0: Exported Photo Brightness Fix

NX Studio 1.11.0 includes a fix worth knowing about before you send product photographs to a client: Nikon has corrected an issue that could make exported images brighter after certain adjustments to NEF (RAW) files. It is a useful reminder to inspect the actual delivery file, rather than assume it will look exactly like the editing view.

Nikon released the update on 14 October 2026. It also adds Z5IIC support and ends the link to NIKON IMAGE SPACE following the service’s closure. For a business owner or retouching client, the most useful takeaway is not a longer feature list. It is keeping the approved reference and the file you ultimately use aligned.

What does NX Studio 1.11.0 fix?

NEF is Nikon’s RAW format, which holds image data for further processing. Exporting creates an output file you can deliver or use, such as a JPEG. Nikon says exported images could become brighter after certain adjustments to NEF files, and lists the correction among the changes from version 1.10.1 to 1.11.0.

The release notes do not identify the exact combination of adjustments, the size of the difference or the proportion of images affected. Do not assume that every older NEF is faulty, or that every brightness difference has the same cause. The stated fix concerns exported output; it is not a promise that every screen will show a photograph identically.

In catalogue photography, a brightness shift can change how a viewer sees a white surface, a shadow or material detail. A practical check is to open the file you will actually send and inspect those important areas. A small preview or an image forwarded through a messaging app should not be your only approval reference.

The update also fixes pasting location data under particular RAW-and-JPEG pair display settings, and a text-and-icon size setting in the slideshow dialog. Those changes may matter to application users, but they are separate from the exported-brightness issue.

Prepare the update without replacing your originals

If you use NX Studio, match the application version and operating system on Nikon’s official download page. Follow the instructions for the appropriate package. Nikon provides the changes and system requirements in the NX Studio 1.11.0 release notes.

Before continuing an active job, keep the original files and separate test exports from the delivery folder. Choose a few photographs that represent the work: a light-coloured product, a textured material and an image with intentional shadows, for example. These are suggested checks, not software test results.

Export copies using the settings intended for delivery, then reopen the output. Compare the same reference under consistent viewing conditions. If something differs, record the filename, application version and settings so the discussion can move beyond a vague “too bright”.

An application update does not automatically justify replacing every file a client has already approved. Establish whether particular outputs need another look, then agree any changes with the recipient. Retain the approved version so everyone can identify the reference.

Agree on the reference before the handoff

As a client, you do not have to use the same application as your editor. What matters more is agreeing which file is the reference, where the photographs will be used and which details must remain visible. A white packaging photograph for a catalogue needs a more specific decision than “make it brighter”.

Explain whether the photographs are intended for a web catalogue, a marketplace or print, and request output suited to that use. Attach comments to the correct filename or version. This helps keep an early example, a revision and the final delivery from being confused.

The NIKON IMAGE SPACE closure is a separate matter: removing its link from NX Studio does not mean your archive has been migrated. If you still have photographs there, follow Nikon’s bulk-download instructions before the data-deletion deadline of 15 April 2027 at 1:00 pm Japan Standard Time.

If you are preparing product-photo retouching, discuss brightness references, material detail and delivery files with Shaniba Creative Industry’s photo editing service. Bring the output you want to discuss through the SCI consultation channel so the revision brief can address a specific file rather than an abstract preference.
