You can build one on a phone by combining separate pictures, cleaning the cutout edges and adjusting the way the subjects sit together. The most useful starting point is not a dramatic filter: it is a compatible pair of photographs and a clear plan for how you will share the result.

Keep the project playful and transparent. Use pictures you have permission to edit, keep the original files, and describe the finished image as a fan edit or fictional composite. For practice, two consenting friends or fictional illustrated characters are a simpler choice than a celebrity photograph with uncertain usage rights.

Daftar Isi

Choose photos for your fan photo composite

Build the composite in a mobile editor

Review, label and share the result

Further reading

Choose photos for your fan photo composite

AI planning concept: compare source portraits before combining them.

Start with a photograph of yourself that has a clean outline, enough room around your shoulders and a camera angle close to the other portrait. A tightly cropped selfie taken from above will be difficult to combine with a full-length stage photograph taken from below. A simpler half-length composition gives you fewer ground shadows and perspective differences to solve.

Look at the bright side of each face and the softness of the shadows. If one portrait has hard sunlight from the right and the other has soft light from the left, brightness alone will not make them agree. Adobe’s compositing guide recommends matching light direction, light quality, perspective and scale when choosing source images.[2]

Do not treat a search result, a social-media post or an official publicity page as permission to reuse a picture. WIPO explains that internet publication does not put a protected work into the public domain, and that licences can permit some uses while restricting others.[3] Check the actual licence or ask the rights holder; attribution alone is not a substitute. For a commercial campaign involving a recognisable person, get advice on the permissions needed rather than assuming a fan-edit label is enough.

Before opening the editor, choose a simple background and decide where the disclosure will appear. Leave space for a short label such as “Fan edit — fictional composite.” If the image could be separated from its social caption, an unobtrusive but readable label inside the image helps the context travel with it.

Build the composite in a mobile editor

AI illustration of separate image layers, not an app screenshot.

Choose an editor that can place a second photograph over a background and let you refine the visible outline. Picsart’s own mobile tutorial describes opening a base image, using Add Photo, resizing the added picture and adjusting opacity or blend settings.[1] Use that as an example of the basic workflow, not a promise that every feature or export option is free. Button names, access and subscription requirements may differ by version.

First, open the background or the portrait that will remain underneath. Add the second picture, then resize it without stretching the person’s face or body. Compare head sizes and shoulder positions rather than making both source rectangles the same size. Temporarily lowering the top picture’s opacity can help you judge alignment; restore the subject to the intended visibility before finishing.

Next, remove or hide the unwanted background around the added person using the cutout, erase or masking tools available in your editor. A mask controls which parts of a layer remain visible. Work carefully around hair, fingers and clothing edges, and keep an editable copy if the app supports it. A soft halo or a missing shoulder is easier to spot when you briefly inspect the cutout against a contrasting background.

Then compare brightness, colour and contrast between the portraits. Make small adjustments to the added layer rather than covering the whole composition with a strong filter. A blending effect intended for a transparent double exposure may be attractive, but it is not the same thing as placing an opaque person naturally into a scene. Check that neither face has accidentally become see-through.

Finally, step back to the intended viewing size. Do the subjects seem to occupy the same space? Are sharpness and background blur reasonably consistent? If the camera angles or lighting remain incompatible, choose a better source photograph or embrace an obviously illustrated collage. You do not need to force every pair into a realistic-looking scene.

Review, label and share the result

AI review concept: the blank strip represents space for your own fan-edit disclosure.

Inspect the edges at a close view, then review the whole composition at phone-screen size. Look for repeated background fragments, uneven skin colour, clipped hair and oddly scaled heads. Keep facial identity intact unless the creative brief explicitly calls for a clearly fictional transformation. Avoid adding details that suggest a real endorsement, private encounter or event that never occurred.

Save a separate finished file, leaving your source photographs untouched. Check the exported image itself before posting: make sure the crop, clarity and disclosure survived, and that an automatic watermark or reduced resolution has not changed what you expected. Use a direct caption such as “A fictional fan composite, not a real meeting.” A joke implying that you actually met the performer can be misleading when reposted without context.

If you need help preparing a composite, send the original files, your preferred layout, intended use and any image permissions with the brief. Explain which details must stay unchanged and where the fan-edit label should sit. Shaniba Creative Industry’s photo editing service page, lists compositing and online review among its services.[5] You can discuss file suitability and the intended output through the SCI consultation portal, without assuming that every source pair can produce the same result.

Further reading

[1] Picsart: combining and blending pictures on a phone.
[2] Adobe: choosing elements for a successful composite.
[3] WIPO: copyright questions, including using online works.
[5] Shaniba Creative Industry: photo editing services.

Combine compatible portraits on your phone, refine the cutout and label the result clearly as a fictional fan edit.

[625

post-14687","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-photo-editing
["GET
